BOOK REVIEW

WHO WILL CRY WHEN YOU DIE?
                                                                -ROBIN SHARMA
The book, "Who will cry when you die?" is an inspiring collection of 101 simple solutions to life's most complex problems, ranging from a little-known method for beating stress and worry to a powerful way to enjoy the journey, while you create a legacy that lasts
.The book opens with the beautiful Sanskrit saying "When you were born, you cried while the world rejoiced.Live your life in such a way that when you die,the world cries while you rejoice." The author puts forth beautiful ideas to love the life you live, and to cherish and beautify each and every second of your life.Life is full of problems, but sensing an opportunity in every problem faced,is the key to a successful living.Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.Building a strong positive attitude and being the best,as a person,is all that it takes to lead a successful life, for which this book has proved to be of a great source of help and determination.
The author quotes, "The tougher you are,on yourself, the easier life will be on you."With reference to the comparison between the funeral pyre and worries, the author remembers his father who said,"One burns the dead, while the other burns the living",He also emphasizes on the importance of developing the habit of carving out a chunk of time, everyday, for one's own self, for one's own interests and pleasures, after all,the greatest pleasures in life are the simplest ones. The author also suggests his readers to grab a copy of a best-selling book by another author in the process of self-learning.Not many authors would do that. This reveals how concerned the author is,about the enlightenment and well-being of his readers, rather than just focusing on the number of copies he sells."The Three Gate Test" is a very helpful strategy, the author suggests,to control one's anger and to stay calm.He also asks the readers to avoid exposing their minds to negative news like Crime stories,Accidents.etc.this is not effective, given that, the world we live in,is o unreliable that it is absolutely essential to be cautious and careful. In my view, the Tv shows and the newspaper articles that focus on crime, are the only means by which we learn to protect ourselves. So,the authors idea of "News Fast" ,tends to affect people in different ways.
The author also brings out the distinction between legitimacy and legacy-the understanding of which, would help one avoid feeling regret, disappointment and sadness, about what could have been, when you reach the end of your life."The Serenity Prayer",has struck a deep chord within me,when it comes to the understanding of  things that can be changed, and those that cannot be.
The purpose of reading this book is to understand that Life is a pat of self-discovery,personal growth and life-long learning. As the author observes,Happiness is not a place you reach, but a state you create."Who will cry when you die?" is not a list of people who would actually cry for you when you die,but a guide to help you lead your life in such a way that your absence is worth their tears. The time I spent reading this book,is definitely the best time ever spent.
